43, went to Heaven on Thursday, November 17, at Reid Memorial Hospital with his mommy by his side. He is the son of Judy (Jackman) Stevens, of Connersville and Max Stevens, of Milton, and his father, John Allen of Alpine, who all survive.
Obie was born on Feb. 16, 1972 in Connersville, being sent to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis at birth and stayed 5 weeks. He attended school in Milton, IN, graduating in 1991. He loved music, The Price Is Right, camping, traveling to the ocean and Tennessee, going to his brothers basketball games and track meets and going to church. He attended Milton Methodist Church and First Baptist Church in Cambridge City, IN. He resided at Hickory Creek at Connersville at the time of his death.
Besides his parents, he will be missed by his brother Danny (Lisa) Allen, Morristown, IN, his nephews and niece Noah, Jaden and Alyssa Allen, his maternal grandparents JoAnn (Steve) LaFollette, Connersville, Phyllis Jackman, Richmond and paternal grandparents Floyd (Jeanne) Allen, Ponca City, OK, his aunts Sherry (John) McKinney, Connersville, Stephanie LaFollette, Virginia Beach, VA., Rema (David) Tribby and family, Morristown, IN, Mary (Rex) Gabbard and family, his uncles Mike (Georgette) Jackman, Connersville, Stephen (Dawn) LaFollette, Muncie, Mike Allen and family, his cousins Tisha McKinney, Jeremy (Connie) McKinney, Stacy Stevens, Graham (Emily) Jackman, Casey (Holly) Jackman, Hannah Vester and his family at Hickory Creek of Connersville.
Those welcoming him into Heaven were his maternal grandpa Bill Jackman, his paternal grandparents, Waldo and Betty Stevens and his paternal grandma, Carol Morgan.
A memorial service will be held on December 13 at 3 P.M. at The First Baptist Church in Connersville, IN, with Pastor Mal Gibson presiding. This will be a celebration of Obie’s new life where he is walking, talking and seeing things for the first time. There will not be a visitation, but all are welcome to come and celebrate with his family.
In lieu of flowers, be a light to someone this Christmas season or go to a nursing home and spread joy, in honor of Obie, because he spent his whole life touching the lives of anyone he came in contact with, so lets pay it forward.
The family would like to thank Reid Memorial Hospital 5th floor and Hospice and Hickory Creek of Connersville for going above and beyond their duties to care for Obie!!
